7 Good Questions with Adam Mustain

Last summer Zealous Good team member, Laura, started a donor interview series on the blog. When Laura left, the interview series went with her. Now we’re reviving and revamping Laura’s concept so you can get to know the people behind the donations. Today we’re talking to Adam Mustain, a super donor who has donated lots of paper and furniture to various Zealous Good charities.

1. Tell me about yourself/your job.

I currently work at Google, Chicago. I was born in Chicago and decided to move back to the city after spending 17 years away, on and off. I’ve visited more countries than U.S. states. Im a huge UFC fan and like to dabble in various martial arts, such as Jiu-Jitsu, Capoeira, Wushu etc. I’ve also recently gained quite a liking for the intensity of crossfit.

2. How did you hear about Zealous Good?

One of my colleagues, David Rohlwing told me about it. He went to college with the founder/president.

3. Why did you decide to use Zealous Good to donate your items? What did you donate?

We donated a whole bunch of odd sized paper and various pieces of furniture over the past few months. Mostly a bunch of stuff that we haven’t been using for over two years now. It’s great to know that somebody is finally able to make use of it again.

4. What is your favorite part about Zealous Good?

The best part of Zealous Goods is that you can pick which organization you want to donate to. This gives you the option to donate to an organization that may be dear to you. It could even be an organization that’s helped you out in the past. I was surprised to see how many non-profits showed interest in the items we had up for donation.

5. What’s your favorite spot to find peace and quiet in Chicago?

Spacetime Tanks, it’s a great little getaway spot where you “float” in a soundproof, pitch black tank which is filled with super dense salt water. There is no quieter spot in the city. It may sound a bit claustrophobic at first, but once you’re in there all perception is simply gone.

6. Who is your do gooder role model?

Louis C.K., Jim “Hot Pocket” Gaffigan, Joey “Coco” Diaz and Joe Rogan. They do the world good by making us laugh.

7. Deep dish or thin crust?

Deep Dish Cheese from Lou Malnatis or Gino’s East.
