Unless you are living under a rock or not reading my blog (and let’s just pretend for fun that everyone is reading my blog), you are probably catching on to the fact that I am a fan of social enterprises. Zealous Good is an example of a social enterprise – using effective business practices to deliver significant impact in the non-profit/social impact work. And we find it really cool when we hear of other social enterprises that are doing awesome work.
Last week, I was introduced to Jared Allen. Jared is a phenomenal social entrepreneur who recently founded Cause Bound. Here is the jist: For every textbook you buy on Cause Bound, they will give a new textbook to a student in need. Oh, and by the way, Cause Bound enables you to find the best prices for your textbooks. Do good at a better price. Wonderful! So, college students everywhere – next time you need to buy a textbook check out Cause Bound to do so!
After talking to Jared, you can’t help but feel energized. He is simply really excited about actually giving and donating books. He told me how he is motivated most by making an impact and educating kids. Making a profit to sustain it is clearly secondary but also significant. So go check out Cause Bound and tell students who are in need of textbooks to buy their books through the site! And, keep up the great work, Jared!!
Brittany Martin Graunke is the founder of Zealous Good, an in-kind donations marketplace in Chicago. You can find Brittany on Google+ or on Twitter at @ZealousBrittany. You can find Zealous Good on Facebook and Zealous Good on Twitter at @ZealousGood.
One can but hope.
