A Look at the Zealous Good Summer 2014 Interns!

One of my favorite parts of summer at Zealous Good is working daily with an amazing group of interns. This summer is no different and we’re loving the value and awesomeness that the interns bring! With out further delay, we invite you to meet the Zealous Good Summer 2014 Interns – and enjoy the jokes we asked them to tell you!

  • Name: Madeleine Barowsky
  • Where do you call home? A suburb of Boston, Massachusetts
  • What school did you attend? I’ll be starting at Wellesley College in the fall
  • What’s your favorite word? Ostensibly
  • Where can you be found during the summer? Catching up on all the fun things I didn’t get to do during the year! I split my time between being installed in a comfy chair, reading and coding; in the kitchen, working on ambitious baking projects; and outside, juggling and playing badminton.
  • Why did you choose Zealous Good for the summer? I thought the way Zealous Good connects donations to recipients is novel, and I love that Zealous Good helps in a way that is ecologically sound, direct, and locally meaningful. I also knew I would be part of a close-knit team and the things I make will impact on a lot of people.
  • Tell us a joke! Rick Astley will let you borrow any movie from his Pixar collection, except one. He’s never gonna give you Up.
  • Name: Karla Magana
  • Where do you call home? Mexico City
  • What school did you attend? University of Texas at Dallas
  • What’s your favorite word? Valentina
  • Where can you be found during the summer? At my house drawing/painting or at the local theatre doing plays
  • Why did you choose Zealous Good for the summer? Because of the impact it creates in local communities. People are always wondering where to donate their unused stuff and Zealous Good makes it super easy to find someone who will benefit greatly from your items. In the future I also want to open my own non-profit so I would like to learn all I can from it, and I am learning a lot so far!
  • Tell us a joke! What did the green grape say to the purple grape?…….. “breathe”.
  • Name: Sara Abu-Ghnaim
  • Where do you call home? Chicago, IL
  • What school did you attend? Northwestern University
  • What’s your favorite word? scrumdiddlyumptious
  • Where can you be found during the summer? Dancing in the rain, the beach, and at country concerts
  • Why did you choose Zealous Good for the summer? I first heard of Zealous Good when I was flipping through the companies at a startup fair at NU. I researched ZG and was highly interested in the mission. I saw many startups at the fair that had a mediocre idea and just wished to start a company. ZG had a concrete mission and it was clear that there was a need for it. After talking with Brittany, I knew that I wanted to get involved. I wished to apply my skills to a worthy company that was doing good for the community. I also wanted to make an impact over the summer rather than rotting away in a corporate office, and a startup is a perfect place to affect change while gaining skills.
  • Tell us a joke! What’s green and has wheels? Grass, I lied about the wheels.
