Common Roots Initiative Awards $1,000 to Chicago Physics Teacher

Common Roots Initiative (CRI), one of our awesome charities, has awarded it’s second $1,000 teacher scholarship of 2012. The recipient of the Fall 2012 Teacher Scholarship is Edward Beidas, a physics and aviation teacher at Proviso East High School (PEHS). He will use the money to fund aviation field trips for 20 students.

“I’m excited about the PEHS aviation program because there are five main majors (or jobs) that it feeds into — piloting, electrical engineering, airport management, airport security, and airport controllers,” Beidas said. “The job market is huge for those sectors.”

CRI will also be awarding a Proviso East High School student with a $1,000 student scholarship this spring.
