They grow up so fast. Growing Home is turning 10 on May 1 and they’re celebrating with so much more than cake! The charity, which provides on-the-job training to previously-incarcerated, homeless and other challenged individuals through employment in an organic farming business, will celebrate its birthday at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum in Lincoln Park.
The keynote address will be given by Steve James, Producer and Director of the award-winning movies The Interrupters and Hoopdreams. A Job Training Graduate will also give remarks. Delicious food, some prepared with Growing Home’s own vegetables, will be supplied by Majani Catering, Sunday Dinner, Bistro Campagne, and Emma’s Kitchen.
“We’re thrilled to be celebrating 10 years of Growing Home’s work and accomplishments, and we look forward to a bright future,” says Harry Rhodes, Executive Director of Growing Home.
100% of proceeds from the event will go to support Growing Home’s job training and community education programs.
