StayClassyis a new and revolutionary medium for helping nonprofits fundraise. They are masters of using social media to raise money quickly and effectively. StayClassy also works to develop a dynamic community of people dedicated to social good. One of their biggest events is the CLASSY awards.
“Hollywood has Oscar, Broadway has Tony, and now philanthropy has the Classy.”-AOL October 2010
The Classy awards aim to select the top philanthropic and charitable activities from nonprofits, businesses, and organizations around the world to recognize them for their actions. The awards allow the nonprofits to gain national exposure as well as monetary prizes towards their cause.
This year, we are excited about a group of fellow do-gooders from Chicago! The Junior Council of Children’s Memorial Hospital has been nominated for this year’s Classy awards! The Junior Council is comprised of many Chicago young professionals who support Pediatric and Adolescent AIDS & HIV Programs of Children’s Memorial Hospital. This year, they have worked hard implementing dynamic methods of fundraising, such as the Chicago half marathon, social events, and listening to speakers. This money was raised to host their annual black tie event called Snowball. This year, Snowball filled Chicago’s Navy Pier with 1,250 young professionals who danced and fundraised the night away. The Junior Council was able to raise a spectacular $105,000! The JC has also pledged to raise $525,000 over the next 5 years to the Pediatric and Adolescent HIV and AIDS clinic.
“The Junior Council’s mission is to ensure all children with HIV/AIDS have access to high quality pediatric healthcare, regardless of their ability to pay.” -stayclassy.org
We wanted to write about this admirable achievement for some of Chicago’s own young professionals working towards GOOD! Congratulations to the Junior Council, and of course, great work! Be sure you visit the Stay Classy site and “like” the Junior Council! Your votes will help in selecting a winner! We’re crossing our fingers for the JC at the Classy awards!!
Junior council has an amazing group of people, who like the group at Zealous Good, prove that young people want to help others too. Thanks for helping the 20 somethings of Chicago look good!
