Mini Mid-Week Roundup of Top Zealous Good Stories!

In life you will always encounter those people who say, “I can’t believe it’s only Wednesday.” But here at Zealous Good we like to say, “Wow, it’s already Wednesday!” Today we bring you a mini mid-week celebration. We’ve rounded up our top stories from the first half of the week to bring you a digestible version of our favorite charity, donor, donation, volunteering and social media related news.

Monday: Welcome aboard, Imagine Englewood If! On Monday the nonprofit that strengthens and empowers the greater Englewood community through teaching local youth healthy living, lead awareness and positive communication skills, became Zealous Good’s newest member!

And a little something was written about us and fellow crowdfunding sites in Crain’s Chicago Business…

Behind the scenes: Matches were made and new relationships formed. Generous donor, Anne, selected Project Education Plus to donate her Sony Handycam to, while St. Vincent De Paul Center will receive a donation of women’s clothes from donor Susan.

Tuesday: #CharityTuesday lived up to its name. New ZG member, Caring Connections for Seniors, recently joined our members list and is already reaping the benefits. On our Facebook wall the nonprofit said this: “(we) already have connected to a donor of a computer that we will refurbish and pass along to one of our low-income senior participants so they can stay connected with the community through being connected to the internet. “

Hurray! LinkedIn gave us another reason to keep up with the volunteering. The business-related social networking site confirmed ’1 out of 5 hiring managers (U.S.) made hiring decisions based on volunteer work experience.’

Tuesday also marked the one-week countdown until we present our Technori Pitch! Next Tuesday you can see Zealous Good along with startups Lovendar, ZipFit, Kula, StageBloc, and OurLabel attempt to woo the crowd in 5 minutes or less! Thankfully, there’s no gong. I asked.

Behind the scenes: Zealous Good member La Casa Norte was matched with awesome donor Nissa who will donate children’s and maternity clothing to the nonprofit that serves youth and families confronting homelessness.

Want to get in on the behind the scenes action? If you’re looking to make a donation, think about what items you no longer use and then visit our site. If you’re a Chicago charity, consider what items you need and check us out. We make donating easy and meaningful! What could be better?
