It’s already that time! February is just one day away. So pull out your 2013 calendar (take this moment to go out and buy a 2012 one if you haven’t made the switch) and mark down these can’t miss, charitable events.
February 9: Wayside Cross Ministries hosts the “Walk-A-Mile In My Shoes” event in Aurora and Elgin. Proceeds from the walk will benefit Lifespring and Urban Youth Ministries of Wayside Cross Ministries.
February 10: Show off your karaoke skills at the Barrel of Monkeys’ (BOM) Benefit “Monkey-O-Kee.” A ticket gets you wine, beer, pasta, pizza and chances to win prizes. Proceeds benefit BOM’s work with Chicago’s youth – igniting their imaginations, boosting their self-esteem and improving literacy.
February 13: Coffee Shop meets Insurance resource, Next Door Cafe, hosts the Neighborhood Assist Grant Kickoff. Learn about the chance to win a $25,000 grant by proposing an idea to better your community.
February 15: Global Explorers Kids presents, “Carnival,” a fundraiser event for the whole family. Live music, food, drinks, dancing, costume contest, and crafts from around the world! Spend your Friday night supporting a great cause.
February 16: Do you know a nonprofit leader in the making? Tell them about the Undergraduate Nonprofit Leadership conference that Supplies for Dreams is hosting. Students who attend will learn to build their skills and knowledge of non-profits, preparation to be an innovative and effective leader, and how to network with key players in the non-profit and for-profit sector.
February 23: St. Vincent de Paul Center gives you a great reason to get dressed up with their 19th Annual Fleur de Lis Ball. The night includes dinner, dancing, cocktails, and a chance to win a trip to Jamaica all in the beautiful setting of the Navy Pier Grand Ballroom.
And remember, if you can’t make it to any of the events you can still support these and many other Zealous Good organizations by making a charity donation. Have a healthy, happy, warm February!
