Where to donate DVDs

Lights. Camera. Action. Movies put you into a world of fantasy, action and love—a world where anything is possible. What’s your favorite DVD to pop in during family movie night? DVDs can be the main attraction of any night but sometimes these magical discs lose their spark and build dust on your media rack. Why not donate your DVDs that you no longer watch? A movie that was once booming through your home’s surround sound could be another person’s happiness. 1Don’t know where to donate your DVDs? Don’t worry, we’ll direct you in the right direction.

If you’re in Chicago, just use Zealous Good to find out exactly which charities need your DVDs. If you’re not in Chicago, here are some ideas of where to donate DVDs.

Schools

Children love movies. During rainy days, children can’t play outside during recess—instead they can enjoy their favorite DVDs indoors in the classroom. Help give the students of your community something to do during those rainy days.

For information on schools near you, you can look up your local school district online.

Libraries

Yes. Its true. People can check out DVDs and get lost in movie, just like they can check out books and get lost in a story. Libraries can have a designated media section in their collection where locals can check out their favorite DVDs. Help add to your library’s media collection by donating your DVDs today.

DVDs to the troops

Soldiers sacrifice so much for our country. Why not help them release some stress? DVDs have the power to make our national heroes forget about the rigors and hardships that come with protecting our country.

Children’s Hospitals

There is no better place to see the power of a movie than at a Children’s Hospital. The everyday medicine can easily take a toll on a child’s morale. Watching a movie can help them escape into another world. Kids in children’s hospitals yearn to feel just like any other child, by donating your DVDs  you are helping these rock stars have the fun that they deserve.

Go to your local children’s hospital’s website for more information.

I just donated our collection of 300+ DVDs & blu-rays to a group called DVDs4Vets. We received an acknowledgement letter within a week and soon after, another letter from the three V.A. hospitals where our collection was forwarded to. This is a very good program that helps military veterans.
