You are ready to replace your current dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, microwave, or refrigerator with a new one. But what do you do with your current used
appliance? Your donated used appliance could really benefit an organization near you.
Below are some types of organizations that could benefit and how to find them!
Homeless shelters and soup kitchens could use your used appliance to cook food for someone less fortunate. As you can imagine, their appliances get a lot of use. Getting additional appliances or newer appliances can really help them complete their work of feeding and sheltering those in need.
You can find a homeless shelter near you on the Homeless Shelter Directory.
Women’s shelters provide a great support system and safe place for women in danger and need. Shelters often help women as they move on to their own apartment/homes. Your appliance could go to benefit these women in need.
To find women’s shelters, visit WomensShelters.org. It’s a great resource with shelters across the country.
Human Services Organizations
Human service organizations, like those that serve the developmentally disabled, often have housing available for the individuals they serve. These homes incur a lot of wear and tear, and appliances can benefit them greatly.
To find a list of human services organizations in your community, visit your local United Way’s website or you can search on Charity Navigator.
