Lately, I’ve been really into infographics. Who doesn’t appreciate a nice chart? Infographics are useful visual devices that present a lot of information (usually statistics) in a condensed image. There are infographics on almost every subject from space travel, to the likeability of certain Angry Birds. Since I’m regularly on the lookout for good ones with nice graphic design and interesting (if not terribly relevant) information, I present my picks for the 4 Coolest Inforgraphics of the Week.
First up is “Social Good: Charity and Technology in the Online Universe” via Mashable.com.
“Social good is one of those terms people use in a vacuum; it’s a concept, an idea, a satellite around the established norms of traditional fundraising and charitable giving. But social good and online giving are two quickly growing fields producing some very real results. The infographic below tries to put social good into better context with donation numbers, growth charts, and some comparisons to its offline (although no-less-chartiable) counterparts.” –Mashable.com
Second, the “World Giving Index” via nptrends.com
“The World Giving Index allows us to establish a rounded view of charitable behavior worldwise reflecting the fact that being charitable is about more than simply giving money. The index is based on three charitable behaviors – giving money to an organization, volunteering time to an org, and helping a stranger” – nptrends.com
Thirdly, “Are We Too Obsessed with Facebook?” via mashable.com
This wouldn’t be a proper infographic list without at least one about facebook.
“Facebook profiles are like belly buttons: Everybody’s got one. Perhaps that statement’s still a bit of an exaggeration, but by the numbers, we (that is, Internet users around the globe) are becoming more obsessed with Facebook by the day. One out of every 13 Earthlings and three out of four Americans is on Facebook, and one out of 26 signs into Facebook on a daily basis.” –mashable.com
Lastly, a slightly less pertinent and slightly more silly graphic titled “Burning Fuel: The Average Human vs. The Average Car” via http://good.is
Ever wonder how many calorie energy equivalents in a gallon of gas? What about how many pints of Guinness equals the energy of a gallon of gas? This sweet graphic will tell ya just that, and more!
Thanks for reading, and let us know if you have any favorite infographics of your own!
