I can almost visualize my mom reading me the Dr. Suess classic “Oh, the Places You’ll Go” when I hear that book title. I either think of that or it’s reprise as a high school graduation gift – Dr. Suess really had us come back to the basics, didn’t he? Anyways, I was thinking this week about how lucky I have been to meet a few really amazing folks and I thought of a twist on this classic title to say “Oh, the People You’ll Meet”.
As a perpetual new kid (we moved 9 times before I was 13 years old), one of my favorite things to do is meet new people. I think it’s one of the most amazing things you can do and I get a thrill from learning little tid bits about a person that then turn into understanding who they are. This week I was lucky to meet quite a few great folks. I’d love to tell you about a few in the non-profit space that really are making a difference. I started the week with Shawna from I AM YOU – a non-profit that teaches girls life skills through an afterschool program with a focus on entrepreneurship and fashion. I then spent some time with Cameron Croft who knows just about everything and everyone in the Chicago non-profit scene. He has a palpable passion for impact and people and specifically education. And he is an engineer so clearly I think he is awesome!
Moral of the story is cool people that are doing great things are fun to meet. And they are even cooler when they love Zealous Good and want to get involved!
Have a great weekend!
