I return a MRS! Very exciting and it was a wonderful whirlwind of a wedding and honeymoon. It comes with my highest recommendation to find the love of your life, marry them surrounded by family and friends, and then go to a beautiful location away from the world for a honeymoon! I’m just saying, it was kind of a great few weeks.
That being said, it’s GREAT to be back to Zealous Good. So many things are happening and I’m elated to move the in-kind donation revolution forward (can you tell I’m charged up?!).
This week I’ll be speaking at my alma mater, Northwestern University, to the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) at their Spring Banquet. As a member of SWE and a former board member, I can’t say enough about what an amazing group it is. The women are smart. They are motivated. They want to change the way that engineering is thought to be a male dominated field. And these girls are all younger than 22! I mean, attaway to go!
I’ll be sharing a bit about my “alternative” career path given my engineering background and sharing how to use an engineering background to make the world a better place. The basic message is how the field of engineering is very focused on solving problems and finding effective solutions. Yes, it may be important for an electrical system or a biomedical heart monitor, but it is also important in the world of business and the world of social enterprise (cough, cough Zealous Good).
As you can see, I’m pretty jazzed. SWE: Aspire. Advance. Achieve.
